Whitney Houston's greatest love songs of all time
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
East Coast Gold is celebrating one of the music industry's biggest icons - Whitney Houston - to mark Women's Day on Sunday, which also coincides with what would have been her birthday.
The Grammy Award-winner would have turned 57 on Sunday, August 9. South Africans will also be celebrating Women's Day - which makes East Coast Gold's tribute to the music icon even more fitting.
Eight years after her passing, Whitney remains a popular artist.
In 2019, she earned her first posthumous Billboard Hot 100 hit with 'Higher Love'. The song was originally recorded by the 'I Will Always Love You' hit-maker in 1986, but got a tropical house makeover last year - courtesy of Norwegian DJ, Kygo.
The remake entered the Hot 100 chart at No. 63 and peaked at No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart.

A Whitney Houston biopic called, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, will be hitting the big screen in 2022. SONY's TriStar Pictures revealed in August that it had won the rights to the film.
Clive Davis - the music producer who helped her launch her career - will executive produce the biopic.
Whitney's legacy will live on for many decades to come.
Listen to Damon Beard's tribute to the star on East Coast Gold this Sunday between 9 and 10am and again from 2 to 3pm.
He'll be playing some of her biggest hits, including some of her greatest love songs.
