Remembering the legendary Johnny Clegg

This Sunday would have been Johnny Clegg’s 67th birthday.
Johnny Clegg was an incredible and unique South African artist.
The legendary musician died on 16 July 2019 after a battle with cancer.
He is one of the musicians who broke down barriers during apartheid and chose to embrace the different cultures that exist in the country.
Clegg, alongside his friend Sipho Mchunu, formed ‘Juluka’ - the first group in South Africa during the apartheid-era which consisted of a white man and a black man.
Together they travelled the world and released music that healed people.
Clegg's love for music and humans distinguished him from many singers in the world.
He also took the African sound to the different corners of the continent and abroad.

One of the most emotional Johnny Clegg performances was his last show in July 2017, hosted in Cape Town.
Clegg got to perform with his friends and son.
The show, which took place at Grand West Arena in Cape Town, was a sell out.
Johnny Clegg's tribute to Nelson Mandela
Who can forget the time that Clegg performed for tata Nelson Mandela in 1999?
Clegg shared a touching message before bringing Mandela on stage. The two of them shared a dance.
