Which of these trends should stay in the 80s, never to be revived? Have your say in our poll...
The fashion of the 1980s has inspired many of the clothing styles we wear today.
Power dressing was a huge hit in the 80s as a result of many women penetrating corporate and political circles, which were historically dominated by men.
Puffed sleeves and oversized accessories, such as belts and bows, were also the order of the day during the period.
Let's go down memory lane and look at five other fashion trends of the 80s:
Poofy Hair
The '80s were all about big and wild hair - full volume and curls or waves. Many women chose to do perm or get feathered hair. The feathered hair was inspired by stars such as Farrah Fawcett of 'Charlie’s Angels'.
Spandex
Spandex, a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity, became very popular during this decade.
It was worn by all genders and people of different ages.
Leg warmers
Films such as 'Fame', 'Xanadu', and 'Flashdance' made leg warmers a fashion trend in the 1980s.
Although they were first worn by dancers, soon everyone joined in. They were worn with boots, tights, and jeans.
High waisted jeans
High-waisted denim skinny jeans became very popular in the 1980s. They were mostly worn with oversized jackets.
Neon coloured clothing
Colorful clothing characterized the '80s - bright yellow, orange, green, and pink. These colours were seen in clothing, shoes, hair accessories, and even in makeup.
