Their music ruled the 80s era!
From topping charts to filling stadiums, these female musicians reigned supreme in the 1980s.
Madonna
The 'Queen of Pop', Madonna, released some of the biggest songs of the 1980s.
Some of her hits include - 'Holiday', which she released in 1983 from her self-titled debut album, 'Into the Groove', 'Like a Virgin', and 'Papa Don't Preach'.
Earlier in August, she announced her 'All Out 80s' album which features some of the songs that made her a household name during that decade.

Diana Ross
American R&B singer Diana Ross released her album, 'Diana', in 1980, which featured the song, 'Upside Down'.
Songs such as 'I'm Coming Out', 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love', and 'All of You' turned her into a superstar.

Celine Dion
In 1983, Celine Dion became the first Canadian recipient of a gold record in France.
The 'Queen of Power Ballads' began singing at the mere age of five before appearing on TV in 1981.
She has released countless hits, winning a Grammy and Academy Award, amongst many others.

Whitney Houston
One of the greatest musicians to ever live was Whitney Houston. The singer, who was nicknamed "The Voice", was named the second-greatest singer of all time by Rolling Stone in 2023.
She was the best-selling musical performer of the 1980s and 1990s.
Tina Turner
The 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' Tina Turner reigned supreme during the 1980s.
In 1984, she released her multi-platinum album, 'Private Dancer'. The album contained the hit song, 'What's Love Got to Do with It'. The song went on to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and became her first and only number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
