1970s music icon Cher sets the record straight about kidnapping rumours

Cher has denied rumours that she tried to kidnap her own son.
Musician Cher has set the record straight after rumours surfaced that she tried to kidnap her son.
Marieangela King, who is the estranged wife of Cher's son Blue Allman, claimed that the singer organised four men to kidnap her son from a New York hotel room. This was revealed in divorce documents she filed last December that surfaced in September this year.
Cher has decided to address the rumours and she says they are false.
Speaking to People, the singer didn't go into much detail, but simply said: "That rumour is not true".

She also spoke about her son's ongoing addiction to drugs.
She says that although her situation is not unique, she is determined to assist her child on his road to recovery.
“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher said. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children."
She added that she would do anything for her children.
"You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”

Allman is the son of Cher and her ex-husband Gregg Allman. She also has another child, Chaz Bono, whom she shares with Sonny Bono.
In an interview with Dr Phil in 2004, she said her greatest achievement is being a mother.
“I always, always wanted to be a mother,” she said.
“I’m proud of, in this lifetime, they both have got great morals. They tell the truth, they root for the underdog, they have respect for people. The things that my mom made me think were the most important things, my children have them."
