Woolworths scraps single-use green plastic bags
Woolies had begun with a trial of its 'Bring a Bag, Take a Bag' initiative at three of its stores.
Consumers at Woolworths Food would have noticed a big change at some of its stores recently.
The retailer started rolling out its 'Bring a Bag, Take a Bag' initiative at several stores in Cape Town a few weeks ago.

Woolworths is on a mission to scrap its green single-use plastic bags at all of its food markets in favour of reusable shopping bags.
According to MSN News, Woolworths began its campaign to stop using non-recyclable plastic packaging back in 2018.
It promised to go plastic-free by the end of 2022, and it is well ahead of its target.
Black fabric shopping bags - made from 85% recyclable PET plastic - were introduced at all of its stores in South Africa.
According to Woolworths, this week marks the final few days in which the green plastic bags will be available at its food stores.

"We are reaching a very exciting milestone...in that our last tranche of Food markets will become single-use plastic shopping bags," says Woolworths spokesperson.
The 'Bring a Bag, Take a Bag' initiative is aimed at helping shoppers who don't have reusable bags or forget to bring theirs. Customers will be able to simply take a bag from the "bag tree" in the store.
Shoppers can also "donate" bags and place them on the tree for other shoppers.
