Women's Day special with Kass Naidoo: "I can still do what I love"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
The East Coast Breakfast team speaks to South Africa's first female cricket commentator, Kass Naidoo.
The East Coast Breakfast Team welcomed home-ground royalty into the studio when they had the pleasure of speaking to South Africa's first female cricket commentator, Kass Naidoo.
Naidoo is the first female cricket commentator in South Africa and the founder of Gsport4Girls, which provides 24/7 coverage of women's sports in the country.
"Until 2006, South African women’s sport had virtually no public profile. The landscape changed in August 2006 with the launch of gsport4girls, an online initiative committed to daily coverage of women’s sport to bridge the gap with men’s sport." (Gsport)
With all her accomplishments and successes, Naidoo humbly said that making it on East Coast Radio's Breakfast show is equivalent to 'making it' in life.
It was an honour to hear her speak about how she finds a balance between her personal life and her booming career; the mother of three shared that she has been married for twenty years and also added that prioritising her family takes the lead when coordinating her work.
It was inspiring to hear Naidoo speak about the upliftment of women in sports and how essential it is to show recognition. Of course, she could not leave East Coast Radio House without the Breakfast team challenging her in some way, and what better way than with a commentary challenge for the Paris Olympics 2024?
She ended her commentary challenge by saying: "You can make up your own ending; this is the brilliance of it."
