The lifeguard from La Mercy shares that he was actually at a hotel near the beach on the day when he heard that there was trouble.
He took to the beach without any equipment because there was no time. He started to assist the two men.
The heroic man yelled instructions to both bathers on how they should swim to a safer spot.

He shared with Northglen News that the bathers were a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man.
According to him, the man followed his instructions and arrived safely at the shore. The teenager seemed to have struggled a lot more to a point of even losing consciousness.
Luckily, he got the young man to do a breathing technique to help him gain composure.
MJ Mkhize, another lifeguard, also intervened and tried to reach them on a jetski.
