Ukrainian couple says "I do" despite the wreck their city has become!

The thing with love is that it has its own timing; this time it happened and took over during a time of war.
When Anastasia Grachova and Anton Sokolov decided they wanted to seal the deal on their love, they had to be strategic.

Grachova (33) and Sokolov (38) got married in a bomb shelter in Kharkiv, Ukraine this past Sunday (3 April 2022).
Their friend, Maria Avdeeva, documented their wedding on her blog, narrating what it took for them to make it all happen.
She writes that Grachova was a nurse in the oncology department and Sokolov a dentist before the war. They have since been running a makeshift pharmacy together since the war started, delivering antibiotics and other medication to elderly and other sick Kharkiv residents.
They felt it was time to get married now more than ever.

Besides the advantage that you have more rights as as a spouse, they are also making a statement to Russia.
They were a couple full of life and fighting back by simply declaring: Despite all this, we will plan for the future. It was like they were saying to the Russians: You may try to take away our future, but there will be one.- Maria Avdeeva

Because their families had fled the country, they just had a few friends join them in the underground metro station ceremony.
There have been thousands of people killed and even more injured since the Russian attack.
We are still hoping for peace soon.
