'May this spirit of madness never locate me' - A woman has gone viral after proposing to her boyfriend, who appeared embarrassed, in a packed restaurant.

It seems like a scenario straight out of a horror-romance movie, but it's 2024, and more women are starting to take matters into their own hands by proposing to their boyfriends.
Case in point, a woman has gone viral for an awkward proposal she made to her man in a packed restaurant. The video, which was shared on TikTok, shows a couple sitting at a table on what appears to be a double date.
An excited waitress bounces to their table with a white box on a tray and places it in front of the man. As the realisation sets in, he seems confused and, dare we say, embarrassed.

The waitress can barely contain her excitement as the man's girlfriend gets down on her knees.
Yes, not one knee... both knees!
A photographer appears out of nowhere to capture the moment.
Everyone in the restaurant is cheering and clapping.
The woman's friend/cousin/sister/betrayer-of-the-sisterhood-code also takes out her phone and starts recording.
Girl, really?!

The woman's boyfriend picks her up off her feet as she places the ring on his finger.
He then gives her an awkward church hug.
To add insult to injury, the photographer then asks to take a close-up picture of the ring.

Maybe we're being a little too harsh on this independent woman? We cannot confirm if it was a definite yes or a no, but her man certainly has a ring on his finger.
She has our respect for her bold move. Social media users, however, were less understanding.
"My pride will never allow me to do this," one woman commented. Another woman added: "May this spirit of madness never locate me."
A third person wrote: "I am not convinced by that hug."
A fourth commented: "Not even Idris Elba would get me to do this."
One TikTok user said she would rather mop the ocean than propose to her boyfriend.
It seems even men object to the idea of a woman getting down on her knee/s to pop the question. "Knowing me as being me...Immediately when I see that suspicious box, [I] was gonna run..." a man named Tshepo said.
Another man wrote: "Can I have a girl that will say, 'I would never do this.' Dear God🤲🏾😭."
A third commented: "I would passionately say ‘no’ and end that relationship."
