Several KZN beaches have been closed due to tropical storm Cheneso

Beachgoers must take note that there are certain beaches that are closed from the North of Durban all the way through to Ballito.
This is normally a time when people go to the beach and enjoy some sea breeze - especially after the heatwave we've been experiencing.
However, those beach visits may need to be put on hold.

According to IOL, three beaches have been closed until further notice.
These beaches are Blythedale, Thompson’s Bay, and Clarke Bay.
This is due to the fact that tropical storm called Cheneso is active on the Mozambique Channel.
IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Dylan Meyrick alerted people that the three beaches are indeed closed until further notice as this tropical storm has caused concern for people in KZN.
"We urge beachgoers to only swim at those beaches protected by lifeguards and that remain open," says Dylan.

Even though the storm isn't expected to hit the KZN coast or affect the weather in any way, these precautionary measures by the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board (KZNSB) are needed. This is because shark gear has been removed from the ocean in anticipation of any issues.
The information gathered by KZNSB shows that Cheneso is moving in a south-easterly direction and the swell size is set to increase.
