Seasoned snake catcher Nick Evans tells us how he became "The Snake Guy"
Updated | By Nokuthula Ngcobo
After months of giving us valuable information about snakes - from the various species to warnings, bites, myths, and more - Nick Evans tells us how he turned his passion into a career.
If you're an avid listener of Nick Evans' podcasts or you've caught his show 'Snake Season' on DSTV channel 180, and wondered what drives his passion for snake rescuing, this week he tells us all about it.
Nick's love for animals started at a young age and was fuelled by the late Steve Irwin, who was an Australian zookeeper, television personality, wildlife expert, environmentalist, and conservationist that he watched a lot on TV.
"I'd watch him jumping on crocodiles and holding snakes by the tail, and I'd think 'wow! this looks so cool. I wanna be like him one day.' He was just so passionate and genuine. And he just wanted to educate people and I really respected that and liked that," Nick says.
While Nick's career does not pay well, he does advise those who want to take up a career in snake rescuing to do it for the love and passion.
