The SAFA comedy of errors is sickening
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Over the past couple of weeks, SAFA have misled journalists and the South African public with wrong information on numerous occasions.
Listen to the podcast and then read the blog below:
Bafana Bafana recently formed part of the Four Nations Tournament, which also comprised of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Angola.
The South African Football Association made a series of schoolboy errors which made every journalist look amateurish.
Here are the six mistakes they made:
1. They said the first match would take place on Thursday, 22 March, but it actually happened on Wednesday, 23 March. Even the official SAFA website still reflects the wrong date. Click here to view it.
2. If you read the story carefully, you would have seen that they said the Zambia v Zimbabwe semi-final would be played first, but on the day of the matches, the fixtures were played out the other way round. The Bafana Bafana v Angola match was played first.
3. They said the matches would be televised, which didn't happen, and we were only told at the eleventh hour.
4. They gave a wrong score only to correct it later. They said Bafana Bafana won the first semifinal 7-6 on penalties, but the score was actually 6-5. They only corrected that a few hours later. Check below:
Correction: Bafana Bafana beat Angola 6-5 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 .

5. They were even getting substitutions wrong, only to delete the initial tweets and make corrections.
Correction: Moon came on for Vilakazi

6. Kick off times for the final kept on changing.
The final of the four nations tournament between 🇿🇦 and 🇿🇲 will now be played at 17h00 tomorrow instead of 18h00. The change of time is by the organizers of the tournament. @CastleLagerSA @nikefootballza @flysaa

No one is immune to mistakes, but if you're not televising games you need to bear in mind that people rely on your official social media for commentary and proceedings.
For a national organisation like SAFA to make such mistakes is a disgrace. They even went as far as blocking journalists who were pointing out errors.
That was pathetic and it has to come to an end. Come on, South Africans, we can do better!
