New AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu is ready to inspire pride in KZN
Sky Tshabalala had a chance to finally sit down with businessman Sandile Zungu, who has been on the lips of many football fans since taking over as the president of AmaZulu Football Club.
In October, South African football club AmaZulu unveiled its new president, Sandile Zungu.
The Premier Soccer League club from KZN - which was previously owned by Dr Patrick Sokhela - has after that announcement unveiled a number of new footballers, including former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala, as well as former Orlando Pirates midfielder Xola Mlambo, in a bid to achieve new heights.

But who is Sandile Zungu?
Describing himself as 'the son of Umlazi', who attended schools in the township and then Hilton College, Zungu studied engineering and later did his MBA, which catapulted him into the world of business and finance almost 25 years ago.
"In 2002 I started my company, Zungu Investment Company (ZICO), on a shoestring budget. And I've built a balance sheet that has afforded me an opportunity to make a bid for AmaZulu," he tells Sky.
His interest in purchasing Usuthu dates back to 2006 when he met Dr Sokhela. Fourteen years later, Zungu got what he calls his first prize - as he only had the desire to ever own one of two PSL teams; AmaZulu or Orlando Pirates.
Having mentioned during his first press conference as AmaZulu president that the aim is for the club to finish in the top four this season, Zungu says that AmaZulu has to make it fashionable for people to love and support the club by winning games and trophies. He also highlights that he understands that huge changes will not happen overnight and it will take a lot of building and determination, but his players are headstrong and ready.
"We have made it very clear that we are not here to just add to the number and the players say that it is achievable," Zungu says.
Sky also wanted to know about Zungu's visit to His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini prior to the club purchase, the relationship between the three KZN football teams in the PSL, and vision 2032.
