You may have come across news recently that South Africa has started revolutionising car licence renewals as Shoprite and Checkers, on WhatsApp, and online. While we may be entering a new era of convenient compliance, some provinces are still pricier than others.
According to Business Tech, every province in South Africa has different pricing for renewing your car licence.

The cost of licence disks varies across provinces based on factors like your vehicle's weight and type. Generally, vehicles with a higher tare weight incur higher fees for their licence disks.
So, which province holds the highest price tag?
The not so lucky winner is...
KwaZulu-Natal!
KZN is reported to have the highest renewal price for almost every weight class.
In our province, the average hatchback costs R474 and for heavier SUVs, it can reach highs of up to R1,350.
The second most expensive province is Gauteng, followed by the Eastern Cape.
