How to cope within a toxic work environment - expert advice

Following the widely reported Ellen DeGeneres story where her workers have reported that their work environment is very toxic, Darren Maule spoke to author, entrepreneur, and business coach Cindy Norcott about the situation and how one can cope under such conditions.
"You don't talk to her, you don't approach her, you don't look at her" - a quote from one of the employees on the 'The Ellen Show'.
What do you do in such a situation? Or in one where your colleagues don't get along and it starts to affect either yourself or production.
The reality is that a number of South Africans dread waking up to go to work every morning because of the toxicity at their workplace. Cindy Norcott, a sought-after motivational speaker, business trainer, business coach, mentor, best-selling author, and award-winning charity head who runs Westville-based recruitment agencies, Pro Appointments and Pro Talent, corroborated this fact by adding that one in ten placements face this phenomenon.

There are often a variety of reasons for an unhealthy workplace; including a lack of leadership and people skills from the employer, lack of emotional intelligence, and insecurities. The current economical and global climate that has taken a knock due to Covid-19 has also played a huge role in increasing the toxicity in the workplace.
