From memory loss to magical results - one matriculant's story

Durban matriculant Jodie Koenig shared her remarkable story with the Breakfast Team about how she turned her memory loss into just a memory - and aced her Matric year.
Jodie Koenig is one amazing girl. She is an athlete and also just matriculated from The Wykeham Collegiate in Pietermaritzburg. She was diagnosed with Viral Encephalitis which led to two years worth of memory loss. The infection is an inflammation of the brain. It can cause permanent brain damage and other severe symptoms.
According to IOL, this teen did not let the infection stop her. Amidst her health scare, she still managed to bag eight distinctions during her 2017 Matric year.
If you thought that was impressive, there's more. This beauty and brawn combo is also a saxophonist, hockey player, and the winner of Wykeham Collegiate's White Blazer award for her outstanding performance in several schooling codes.
