Former DA leader Mmusi Maimane let the cat out of the bag when he took to social media to say, “I’m told Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter will be removed today as he failed to solve the energy crisis.”

Gauteng traffic police say they are investigating the circumstances behind a viral video which shows a young boy driving an SUV around Roshnee, Vereeniging. In the video shared on social media on Wednesday, the boy is seen in the driver’s seat, speaking to a small group of adults standing on the pavement.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe. The suspension of Hlophe, who is accused of gross misconduct while on the bench, is with immediate effect.

The US Department of Energy announced on Tuesday a monumental milestone in nuclear fusion research: a "net energy gain" was achieved for the first time in history by scientists from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. The hope is that it could be used to develop a clean source of power that would discontinue reliance on fossil fuels.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said that KZN is in for more rain for the next three months. The warning comes after most parts of the KZN— still recovering from the floods of April and May — were hit by torrential rains on Sunday and Monday, which resulted in widespread damage to homes but, thankfully, no fatalities.
