South Africans can expect to see big changes to the country's coins next year. The new coins will see the words "South Africa" imprinted on one side, in all the official languages. Though the cabinet approved the "dimension, design, and compilation" of the coins, images of the new coins were not released.

Residents living in the Durban suburbs of Glenwood, Umbilo, and Bulwer have had to contend with piles of trash lining the streets because Durban Solid Waste staff have allegedly not collected refuse for the past four weeks.

Swimming caps for afro hair have been approved for use in top-level competitions. The specialised covering - designed for thick, curly hair and styles such as dreadlocks, weaves, and braids - was banned from last year's Olympics.

A star-studded line-up, including Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher, joined the Foo Fighters for an emotional tribute to the band's drummer Taylor Hawkins at a concert in London on Saturday night. He died at the age of 50 in March in Colombia, hours before the Foo Fighters were set to take the stage at the Festival Estereo Picnic. The band immediately canceled its remaining tour dates. Saturday's concert was the first time the band had performed together since Hawkins' death.

Earlier this year, Sebastian Vettel said that climate change had made him question his job as a driver traveling the world to race cars. He announced he will retire from Formula One at the end of the season following a stellar career and cited Climate Change as the reason.
