The sea level is rising twice as fast as previously forecast around parts of New Zealand, according to research published on Monday 1st of May 2022, putting the country's two largest cities at risk decades earlier than expected. Government-backed data amassed from around the country's coastline found some areas are already sinking 3mm to 4mm per year, speeding up a long-expected threat. South Africa’s Covid-19 test positivity rate hit 22% on Sunday. KZN Health has raised the alarm after the province recorded over 1700 new Covid-19 cases in a single day this weekend. As of Monday 2 May 2022, new infections in KZN peaked at 1 742 recorded on Saturday, with 80% of them in eThekwini.
