According to a Russian intelligence officer Russian President Vladimir Putin has “rapidly progressing cancer”, is losing his sight and has been given three years to live by doctors.

Shoprite and Checkers have initiated a voluntary recall of 170g cans of Cape Point light meat shredded tuna in water due to the possibility of cans with defective double seams. The voluntary recall is limited to products with the production code: EEJCK BPHGS01. The production date is 23/07/2021 and best before date is 23/07/2024. More details on ecr.co.za

Two of SA's top private schools scrapped their annual derby day on Saturday after allegations of a racist slur during a hockey match. Rugby and hockey matches between Michaelhouse in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and St John's College in Johannesburg were cancelled. A letter to parents from the school principals said the Michaelhouse boy alleged to have uttered the slur had been suspended as a precaution pending a formal disciplinary hearing.

Power utility Eskom announced the suspension of load-shedding on Sunday due to “marginal improvement” in power-generating capacity.

Florence Nightingale Drive in Chatsworth lived up to its name recently as members of the public rallied together to help deliver a baby on the side of the road. Gonum Govender, a midwife at RK Khan Hospital, had just arrived home from work when frantic neighbours called her. The 64-year-old midwife, who will be retiring next year, delivered the baby!
