Nature can be so unpredictable...
In what seemed to be a relaxing, epic trip ended in a nightmare for this couple as a ranging bull elephant tipped their car over into a ditch in Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon as the owner of the White Ford Figo was at odds with the animal. The car got too close to an elephant on the road from Memorial Gate to Hilltop Resort.

When the driver tried to drive off, the elephant put its tusk through the passenger window, smashing the glass entirely. According to field ranger, Velenkosini Ntombela, he was there at the scene to witness the whole thing.
It lifted the car like rugby players performing a lifting in a line-out. It, unfortunately, decided not to complete this common rugby action, choosing instead to throw the car into a ditch on the side of the road,- Velenkosini Ntombela
A warning shot stopped the elephant from causing more damage and it disappeared into the bush. The people who were inside the damaged car were transferred to the ranger’s car and moved to safety.

There were no injuries reported as the two people were cleared by the medical personnel on site. The car, on the other hand, had to be towed away.
Acting CEO, Ntsikelelo Dlulane, had already expressed his relief that no lives were lost as this could've really turned out ugly.
