Checkers has gone international...
In rather confusing news, Checkers on Friday placed an advert in Australian publication, The Sydney Herald, as well as the UK's London Evening Standard, highlighting what it called its "value offering".
This is despite having no stores in either Sydney or London.

According to Mike Middleton, who is the chief marketing officer for Checkers, the retailer wanted to remind expats that South Africa is still a great place to live.
In a statement, Checkers is delighted that the South African ad can be shown overseas for all to see.

"The advert shows exactly how much cheaper it would be to buy products like Moët & Chandon, Coca-Cola, matured rump steak and laundry capsules at Checkers vs stores such as Coles, Aldi, and Woolworths in Australia," says Middleton.
According to Checkers, the rationale behind the advert being placed overseas is to communicate that the store doesn't just sell groceries, but they also provide a better lifestyle.
