Your fridge restock could be missing a few items, and most of them are not even edible.

People are decorating the inside of their fridges thanks to a social media trend called 'fridgescaping'.

The fridge decor trend has grown in popularity over the years and is picking up steam again in 2024. More and more people are ensuring the inside of their refrigerator is just as aesthetically pleasing as the rest of their home.

According to Food & Wine, "Fridgescaping is the act of styling a refrigerator’s contents. Although it might seem like a trend born of social media, the term nearly predates Instagram. Kathy Perdue, a retired design consultant based in Brentwood, California, coined the phrase in a 2011 blog post as a riff on 'tablescaping'."

Think vintage picture frames, fairy lights, flowers in vases, and Roman-style bust statues stylishly placed between food items such as milk, eggs, and butter.

'Bridgerton' is a popular theme for 'fridgescaping', with several videos showing people decorating their fridges with Regency-inspired decor.

As bizarre as it may seem to some, many TikTok and Instagram users love the trend.

"Part of me says nobody’s got time for that…but most of me wants to do this first thing in the morning," one TikTok user wrote.

Another user wrote: "I am a home stager & I can tell you people will open your refrigerator. I am embarrassed I haven’t thought to fridgescape like this. You are doing an important service."

Some social media users joked that "fridgescaping" will make empty fridges look full in this tough economy.

"Since I can’t afford groceries, ok."

Content creator Lynzi Judish is one of Instagram's queens of 'fridgescaping'. The home decor influencer has created many food decor themes including 'Bridgerton', 'Practical Magic', and 'Enchanted Forest'.

"This fridgerton refrigerator restock was honestly one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done in a while. I just started watching season 3 of Bridgerton, so what better time to romanticize my life with some fridgescaping?" she said.
