#BigFavour: Woman pays it forward to Durban baby home
Updated | By Damon Beard
This is inspiring! A woman contacted The Big Favour to share her good fortune with a Durban-based baby home in need.
Listen to this heartwarming story in the podcast then read more below:
Terri and Nola run The Baby House in Westville, a safe haven for abandoned babies which operates 'on a wing and a prayer'.
Volunteers and donations from the community keep this incredible place of safety open.
The house is home to a maximum of six babies who have been handed over by a social worker, usually shortly after birth. Two dedicated house mothers then lovingly look after these precious little babies as their caregivers.
One thing that the home desperately needs is a washing machine. With washing being done all day, every day, it’s a constant struggle.

It was an email from listener Chanine Munro that saved the day.
Chanine had recently won a top loader washing machine by entering an in-store competition, and being an avid listener of the Big Favour, decided that she wanted to donate it to someone deserving.
Perfect timing and what a wonderful idea to gift it to The Baby House Westville.
Thanks to Chanine, the nightmare days of washing piling up at the Baby House Westville are over.
If you’d like to help in any way please see the home’s wishlist below.
