#BigFavour: A Comrades dream come true for Hamilton
Updated | By Damon Beard
Louise wrote into the Big Favour to tell us about Hamilton, a cleaner who has a dream of completing the Comrades.
Listen to the podcast, then read more in the blog below.
Hamilton is a young man who is always friendly, cheerful, and ever-so-helpful when you ask for any assistance. He is also an avid runner and trains whenever possible, often running from where he lives in Claremont to Gillitts.
After work last week, Louise gave him a lift to start his normal practice run…
It was then that Hamilton got chatting about The Comrades Marathon, but said he couldn’t enter as he didn’t have the entry fee, nor does he have any running shoes, as the secondhand shoes that were given to him a year ago are in a bad state. He also doesn’t have socks.

Imtiaz Karodia, the CEO of the Solly M Sports Group, jumped on board to help kit Hamilton out with top of the range running shoes, socks, a tracksuit, and sweater, and they’ll also pay the entrance fee so that Hamilton can run the 2018 Comrades.
We will be on the lookout for Hamilton as he takes on the Comrades Marathon this year, in style thanks to the Big Favour!
