Where all the stories began: African Story Magic with Gcina Mhlophe (Episode 1)
Updated | By Gcina Mhlophe
We’re
celebrating the launch of an iconic new podcast with the award-winning Dr Gcina
Mhlophe. ‘African Story Magic’ is very special to the legendary South African.
Find out why, plus what episode one is all about, in her own words, here…
This land of our ancestors has always been story country. It is not surprising that I too grew to be teller of tales, a weaver of dreams.
So, I have good reason to celebrate a groundbreaking new journey at East Coast Radio from today as we launch the ‘African Story Magic’ podcast where I will be sharing stories in both English and isiZulu, my mother tongue.
There will be a mix of old and contemporary stories suitable for the whole family to enjoy.
Radio is one other most powerful platforms and it transcends the generation gap. The kind of programming and community outreach done by ECR has been amazing over the years. That is why it feels so good to join this family.
And better still, the online platforms mean that one cannot feel bad if they missed one story or two. My international audiences will not miss out either. All they have to do is go to https://www.ecr.co.za/podcasts/african-story-magic-gcina-mhlophe/ to find all podcast episodes.
We launch this podcast with ‘Mazanendaba Searches for Stories’.
The story of Mazanendaba, the woman who went to the bottom of the ocean to find stories from the spirit people, simply had to be the first one. She returned with a whole treasure chest of tales, and that is precisely what we wish to share with our audience through this podcast. It is an honour to reconnect with our fellow story-loving people in this beautiful country.
No story lives unless someone wants to listen. Thank you to our ECR listeners!
