Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
Darren, Keri, and Sky want you to start your day with these five things.
1. Rich countries could be close to normal by late 2021 if vaccine works, Bill Gates says
Billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates said that rich countries could be back to normal towards the end of 2021 if a COVID-19 vaccine works, is ready soon, and distributed properly at scale. Gates added that people in the United States should be thinking about ways to reduce the hesitancy about having a vaccine when one is ready. Let’s hope South Africa can secure dosages when the time comes.

4. Apple's new face mask emoji is now hiding a smile
Apple is turning the mask emoji frown upside down in an upcoming update to iOS 😷 The mask emoji has generally been used to represent someone who is in the medical field or sick. However, it's being used a lot due to the pandemic. Apple is changing the emoji so that it doesn't look quite as sad, according to Emojipedia.
5. Prisoners have been forced to listen to 'Baby Shark'
Two former detention officers from the Oklahoma County jail and their supervisor have been charged with cruelty after forcing prison inmates to listen to 'Baby Shark' on repeat. Detention officers secured the inmates to a wall and forced them to stand with their hands cuffed behind them while 'Baby Shark' was played on a loop at loud volumes for extended periods of time.
