Durban storm: KZN train services suspended
KwaZulu-Natal's Metrorail services will remain suspended until further notice.
"Unfortunately, the South Coast line between Isipingo has been damaged. We got the worst there because there are cars lying on the railway line. Therefore, those lines will not be opened any time soon," says Metrorail's Isabel van der Westhuizen.
Passenger rail agency, PRASA says the full extent of the storm damage to its infrastructure is still being assessed.

Indications are that Metrorail will not be able to operate for at least four to five days.
Van der Westhuizen says some lines have been more affected than others. She's urging commuters to look for other modes of transport in the meantime.
"We have sent all the engineers out to inspect all the lines in various areas. Once they have reported back then we'll be able to assess which lines will be opened," she says.
In some instances the ground beneath the tracks has been washed away completely. At least 17 trains are stranded outside depots in the province.
