Maimane heads to ConCourt to appeal school's reopening judgement
Mmusi Maimane has gone to the highest court in the land in his bid to have the decision to reopen schools reversed.
Earlier this month, Maimane and his One South Africa Movement lost their High Court case challenging government's decision to have children return to the classroom.
He's now filed a supporting affidavit in the Constitutional Court of South Africa to have the judgement overturned.
Maimane and his movement have argued that the reopening of schools was risky and dangerous as not all schools were safe – and have accused government of gambling with the lives of young people.

They led a school stay-away last week Friday – as the number of COVID-19 infections in the country continues to spiral.
Their legal team has now filed papers with the Constitutional Court – as they apply for leave to appeal the decision of the North Gauteng High Court.
Maimane's campaign to shut schools until after the COVID-19 peak has been given impetus by the World Health Organisation's advice earlier this week, that schools can only safely reopen once community transmission has been brought down through broad-based, comprehensive strategies by individual governments.
