Lamola: Govt grappling with COVID-19 hotspots
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola says government is grappling with COVID-19 hotspot challenges, as South Africa prepares to shift to Level 3 of the lockdown.
He says they are working on solutions to minimise infections in these areas – eThekwini is one of them.
Under Level 3, which will be activated on Monday 1 June, domestic travel will still be prohibited and only allowed for work and school purposes.

Lamola was one of the ministers who addressed the media at the National Coronavirus Command Council briefing in Pretoria on Thursday.
"Hence we have remained with some level of restriction with regards to movement - to manage the issue of cross-pollination between the metros or these red hotspot areas into the other areas which are not hotspots.
"As information and data become more available, it will also help us as we deal with a differentiated approach and we ease in the areas where it is not hotspots to allow for more easing of the restrictions."
