Heartbreaking! Mom shares pic of her holding stillborn baby
Updated | By Damon Beard
A mother shared pictures of her cradling her stillborn baby to encourage others to talk about baby loss.
Around 2,000 children die every year when their mothers carry them for 20 weeks or more.
And while infant mortality rates (deaths of children born alive who die within the first year) have continued to drop each year, the rate of stillbirths have not.
The concept is so tragic, it's rarely spoken about.
So how brave must you be to lose a child and then still be forced to give birth to that child knowing they would never survive?
A lady lost her second son five years ago when she was just 22 weeks pregnant, but this brave mom has shared the heartbreaking images of her stillborn baby boy to encourage other parents to talk about baby loss.
The pictures are absolutely shattering and although there's been mixed reaction to the posts, most people seem to feel this mom displays the epitome of bravery.
At first, the pictures really disturbed me, but after thinking about it, it shows other mothers that have gone through the same thing that they're not alone.
What do you think about this mom sharing the pictures? Are you offended by them or has she done an incredible thing by speaking out and exposing her vulnerability in such traumatic times?
