Would you go naked for a good cause?
Updated | By Staff Writer
This year the Naked Issue features 35 stripped down celebs – including Lira (on the cover), Pearl Thusi, DJ Milkshake, Taxi Violence and JP Duminy.
And before you say this is just another opportunity for stars to get naked, the Naked Issue is actually for a good cause.
It's all in aid of ‘Blow the Whistle’, an anti-rape initiative which strives to protect all women and children of South Africa.
And all the proceeds of the Naked campaign will go to the DNA Project, a Blow the Whistle beneficiary which works on the development of crime scene DNA forensics.
Although Boity's shapely bum didn’t make an appearance on the pages this year, and although the Naked Issue 2015 hasn’t made quite the splash that it did last year, editor of Marie Claire, Aspasia Karras, has promised that this edition is the most powerful yet.
In her words:
"Standing vulnerable and raw in front of the nation is an act of bravery. It is a powerful message that says enough is enough. The Naked campaign, more than ever this year, is an expose. Let’s bring these secrets into the light, share you message with us online, share your voice, and let’s ‘Blow the Whistle’ together."
I must say, I take my proverbial hat off to all the celebs brave enough to take part in this initiative.
Firstly it's great to see people so comfortable with taking it all off, and secondly being brave enough to face the public scrutiny that comes with this.
Remember Dr Duda, Mo-T and J-Something's pictures from last year being ridiculed on social media? I don't think I could ever do it. Can you imagine my ta-tahs being shown off in my spread and my father having to listen to office banter about my assets? Arggh, I really don't think it's for me - to be honest. But who knows what could happen.
So what I want to know from you is: would you do it? Would you be able to take your clothes off and pose for the Marie Claire Naked Issue?
