Umlazi You Rocked!
Updated | By tanstan fourie
Love was in the air when Darren Maule, Natarah Nadesan and the rest of the team kicked off their live broadcast from Umlazi Mega City at 6am today.
By the time the show wrapped up at 9am, local motorists hooted their love and friends of the station either Tweeted their love or made their way to the shopping centre to meet Darren in person and be part of the vibe and excitement.
As KZN-born US-based tennis coach Richman Mahlangu shared his incredible rags-to-riches story with Darren, motorists around Umlazi Mega City were treated to more than 200 cups of coffee and yummy muffins by the East Coast Radio Tour team members.
While the team raised smiles and lifted morning rush-hour spirits, Kevin the Stunt Guy raised eyebrows and got a few choice words, thanks to Darren’s challenge.
Kevin rolled around in dirt, slapped on a wig and tried to wash windscreens with a filthy rag. The pics speak for themselves!
A handful of celebrities dropped in to soak up the atmosphere too. Sharks CEO, John Smith, and player Tera Mtembu came along to chat to Dawn Dunn.
While the stars of the new SA action-thriller, Hard To Get, Thishiwe Ziqubu and Pallance Dladla, told Darren why the movie is touted as one of the best yet in SA.
As the team packed up and got ready to board their big yellow tour bus, Darren was enjoying being on Cloud 9. “Wow, today was epic! It was absolutely phenomenal!” says Darren. “If this is what day one was like, I can’t wait for the rest of tour!”
The East Coast Breakfast Tour is off to the South Coast next, broadcasting from near the Port Shepstone Lighthouse on Monday 21 July.
Join the East Coast Breakfast team at the Cock & Tail in Margate on Sunday for a night of songs and sundowners.
