Suspect killed in Chatsworth shootout

The man and two other suspects entered a gambling spot in Funfai Road in Bayview and robbed staff and customers of cash. 

Police were alerted to a robbery in progress and when they arrived a shootout ensued between the officers and suspects. 

The Police's Thulani Zwane says the other two suspects have been taken into custody.

"They were found in possession of three firearms which will be taken for ballistic tests to check if they've been used in any other previous crimes. The arrested suspects will be appearing in court soon - facing charges of attempted murder, business robbery as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition," her said. 

Police have recovered three weapons as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
