Thishiwe Ziqubu shines at Sabela Awards

She couldn’t believe it when her name was called on Sunday night at the Sabela Awards held at the Durban ICC. The awards honour fresh talent within the acting industry more specifically in the KZN region. Thishiwe Ziqubu made us go weak in the knees when she starred alongside Pallance Dladla in the Bonnie & Clyde inspired movie Hard To Get in 2013. Fast forward to now and Ziqubu is hot property in the Film & Television world. This past week her latest movie entitled ‘While You weren’t Looking” premiered at the Durban International Film Festival where she plays a lesbian character alongside Petronella Tshuma. Apart from that fans can catch more of her in a brand new drama called “Its Complicated”.. I took the time to sit down & chat to Thishiwe & this is what she has to say about her new role in the drama series. “Wow yeah man I play the role of Ntandokazi who is a feisty & driven brand specialist. She knows what she wants & doesn’t like to let relationships get in the way of her independence you know, so the character is quite headstrong. I enjoyed playing the role because it depicts what many women aspire to be.” With that said Thishiwe is excited about the future & wants to portray as many different roles as possible. It’s Complicated starts Friday, 24 July at 19:30 on Mzansi Magic, DSTV Channel 161.
