SA’s Covid-19 death toll rises over 47-thousand mark

Statistics released
by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize shows that South
Africa has recorded an increase of 276 new Covid-19
related deaths.
This brings the total number of deaths in the country to 47 145.
Gauteng has recorded the biggest increase with 126 new deaths, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 34, the Eastern Cape with 33 and the Western Cape with 31 related fatalities.

The province of Mpumalanga has recorded 21 new deaths, while the Free State recorded 20, the Northern Cape 8 and Limpopo 3.
KZN has the highest number of active cases at over 20 000.
The number of recoveries has also increased to 1 367 247, with a recovery rate of 92.7%.
