KZN drought: A close-up with residents
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
With the drought continuing to grip most of KZN, conditions in the Zululand District have become severe.
Some residents are claiming their pleas for water tankers have fallen on deaf ears.
It's become a battle for survival between humans and livestock in Nongoma where residents chase away goats and cows from fast depleting rivers.
In Nhlangakazi not far from uLundi, the situation is more severe.
Residents have been digging for water in the middle of the dried up Vuna River.
They say they try their luck at every dry river and manage to at least go home with three buckets of water.
It rained for the first time this month after a long dry spell last year but this didn’t help much.
