'The Shrek' actress is 'Team Separate Bedrooms' and her reasoning makes perfect sense.

Cameron Diaz thinks couples should consider sleeping in separate bedrooms from time to time.

The actress, who has been married to musician Benji Madden for almost nine years, made the comments during a recent appearance on the 'Lipstick on the Rim' podcast.

The show is hosted by Molly Sims and Emese Gormley. When one of the hosts mentioned that she doesn't sleep in the same bedroom as her husband, who snores, Cameron said it is healthy for couples to have their own space.

"We should normalise separate bedrooms. I would literally, like, I have my house, you have yours, we have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room, you go sleep in your room. I'm fine."

Cameron, who was on the show to promote her organic wine brand Avaline, teased that couples can have a bedroom somewhere in the middle so they can convene for "relations".

Sleeping in separate rooms is sometimes called a "sleep divorce". It's usually done when couples have different sleep patterns or one partner snores. Research has shown that a lack of sleep can affect your sex drive.

Others sleep in different rooms because they enjoy being alone from time to time.

Cameron might be onto something. Gwyneth Paltrow revealed in 2019 that she doesn't live with her husband Brad Falchuk.

The couple owned their own homes before tying the knot in 2018 and decided to live separately while blending their two families. They both have children from previous relationships.

Gwyneth and Brad would spend four days in the week at each other's homes.

“All my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,” she told The Sunday Times

However, after one year of marriage, the couple moved in together. She joked that her “sex life was over."

Kourtney Kardashian and her husband Travis Barker also choose to hold off moving in together. Five months after their 2022 wedding in Italy, the reality star revealed that she doesn't live with her husband.

"I think we're in the place where we're figuring out how to blend our households and our kids. What does life look like now? So, for the most part...we're getting those things in place. We do family dinner every Sunday night with all the kids at his house," she said on Dear Media's 'Not Skinny But Not fat' podcast.

South African comedian Trevor Noah also shared his unconventional views about marriage and cohabiting in 2019

“I’m a big advocate for not living together ever, even if you’re married. I think one of the biggest reasons people get divorced and relationships break up is because of this cohabiting bulls**t that we’ve come to believe is the way relationships are supposed to be," he said on 'The Howard Stern Show'.
