A passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt
The Airbus A321, with 217 passengers - including 17 children - and 7 crew on boar, was heading to St Petersburg from the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
It disappeared from radar 23 minutes after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh.
The Egyptian prime minister says the jet , operated by Russian operator Kogalymavia, came down in central Sinai after losing contact with air traffic control.
It's understood the captain reported technical faults shortly after taking off and asked to change the route of the flight - instead of flying to St Petersburg flying to Cairo which is much closer to Sharm-al-Sheik.
Egyptian search and rescue teams have located the site of the crash in the Hassana area 35 km south of the Sinai Mediterranean coastal city of Al Arish.
Local journalists in Sinai have been reporting that ambulances have left from various areas around the crash site to try and get to the scene.
