Penny Sparrow pleads guilty to crimen injuria, sentenced

Former south coast estate agent, Penny Sparrow has been fined R5000 or 12 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of crimen injuria in the Scottburgh Magistrate's Court.
Sparrow's lawyer this morning told the court they had entered into a plea bargain with the State.
The case had to be adjourned a few times today as the two parties thrashed out the details of the plea bargain.
As part of her sentence, Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo ordered Sparrow to make a public apology and also post one on Facebook.

A tearful Sparrow made her apology in court before proceedings came to an end.
In January, reacting to litter being left on beaches after New Year's celebrations - she wrote a Facebook post in which she referred to black beachgoers as monkeys.
